Collaborated on bill proposing required Climate Education for all public school students, K-12. HB 1635

 

New Hampshire House Bills I've collaborated with Representative Chris Balch on:

 

• HB 1635 - Requiring climate education in grade and secondary schools. (Bill and written testimony)

• HB 1228 - Proclaiming Climate Change Awareness Day on October 1st. (Bill and written testimony)

• HB 1229 - Requiring proposed natural gas facilities to include decommissioning costs.

2019

• Testifies weekly at the NH State House & Legislative Office Building in support of environmental and energy policy.

• Testified at NH Department of Environmental Services in support of action on PFAS water contamination.

• Advocate for sealing leaking methane pipelines, expanding pipeline safety procedures and educating the public to increase their understanding and comfort in speaking with utilities and pipeline representatives.

• Attended utility open houses, informed on energy issues.

• Testified at local planning and climate boards on proposed energy policy.

• Served as a community liaison and resource.

2018

• Testified in support of environmental and energy policy.

• Attended hearings and testified at the NH Public Utilities Commission.

• Attended utility open houses, informed on energy issues.

• Testified at local planning and climate boards on proposed energy policy.

• Networked with New Hampshire's candidates for office at the AFL-CIO Labor Day breakfast. Keynote Speaker: Bernie Sanders

• Initiated the first New Hampshire statewide campaign, a candidates' commitment to "No Fossil Fuel Money" and expanding the use of renewable energy.

• Attends NHPR regional political events.

• Continued advocacy in support of offshore wind in the Gulf of Maine.

• Advocate for sealing leaking methane pipelines, expanding pipeline safety procedures and educating the public to increase their understanding and comfort in speaking with utilities and pipeline representatives.

2018 NH Midterm Election

 

• Attended seven gubernatorial forums during the summer, with a front row seat and question asked at each, in reference to the proposed Liberty Utilities Granite Bridge Pipeline and LNG tank. Met with statewide candidates for office and current State Senators regarding the project.

• Interviewed gubernatorial and congressional candidates on their energy policy.
