New Hampshire glows in autumn

New Hampshire glows in deeply-hued jewel tones. I can't imagine visiting New England in autumn, never having seen such color before. What a jolt to the senses.

For me, it's simply magical. Even the stone walls covered in lichen are something to behold. They grow only a few mm a year and can live 100 or more years. Some lichen in the Antarctic are believed to be 500-5,000 years old! Since lichens mostly get their nutrients from the atmosphere, they're a bioindicator of the health of an ecosystem. Fortunately, they're abundant here. This is what we fight to protect. ♥ #FossilFree603
